ABOUT
I'm a Brisbane-based Audio Engineer, Composer/Producer and a Live Sound Engineer, who has recently graduated with a Bachelor of Audio (Studio Production) at SAE Creative Institute, Brisbane.
My main area is composing/producing music. I am a guitar player and produce psychedelic/chill/instrumental tracks. Genres that influence my compositions include: psychedelia, dream pop, reggae/dub, hip-hop and jazz. I hope to continue create experimental tracks, as well as to collaborate with artists from different genres.
In the studio, I tend to lean more to the mixing side of things. I enjoy experimenting with recorded sounds/instruments and also enjoy the challenge of trying to mix to a particular idea in my head or to a reference track. During my time in the studios at SAE, I've worked with alongside audio students to record solo artists or bands, and mixed them either on analog consoles or solely on Pro Tools. I also recorded some of my friends playing instruments for some of my own compositions, which brought new challenges as they had different and unique playing styles so it was really interesting to mix.
After graduating, I caught up with my lecturer David L Page, who discussed the idea of working together on future projects and eventually building a team of creatives. So far, we've worked on a project with The Goon Sax, where we recorded their version of 'Oh Yoko!' by John Lennon, to be featured on Berlin's Rolling Stones Magazine. The project helped me refresh my skills with mixing as well as working with a band. I'm excited continue to work on future projects with David L Page and hoping to build a great team of creatives in the future.
My 2nd preferred area in the audio field is Live Sound. I've been around live sound since a young age from having parents who were gigging musicians. I'm now the sound engineer for my dad's band and before COVID, was assisting a qualified live sound engineer with small gigs and a few large events. I enjoy the practical fast-paced environment of live sound as it really helps cement any new knowledge/skills I learn.
In Post Production, I've developed most of my skills through an internship with Folklore Sound. I edited dialogue, atmos, and FX for some of the projects they were working on. I was also able to assist with ADR/VO recordings and observed my mentors when they were mixing. At SAE, I've also worked on sound replacement projects with other students and have composed music for visual media. I've been really fascinated with the mixing process behind it all that I try to incorporate that into my compositions. Hoping to continue to develop my skills in post-production.
I'm highly motivated to learn and develop as many skills in all areas of audio (live sound, studio production, or post-production). I hope to gain a wide range of experiences, contacts and knowledge; to set myself up for the future audio industry.
