AUM162: Week 1
This was the first lecture of AUM162 and for most of it, we went through an overview of the subject; the assignments/projects, resources to look at, and expectations of the class.
Our first project consisted of 3 tasks: transcribing the rhythm for either "Billie Jean" or "Another One Bites The Dust", transcribing the melody for "Havana", then transcribing melody and harmony for "Fallin'". Our next assignment was to work through the lessons on Ear Master, which is a software made to train the ears and help improve your music theory, and lastly, our last project is to compose a song which should incorporate all the skills we've learned through this trimester.
I'm really glad I've chosen this as my elective as I still get learn something music/audio related, I get to improve on music theory (something I've always wanted to work on), and I'll get to work with new students which will definitely help me learn new things and also expand my network. I'm also happy with the projects this trimester as I know it will be beneficial for me, and I'll get to learn things that I didn't get the chance to in my audio classes and will just refresh my knowledge on music theory and composing. It's also nice to have a lecturer I'm familiar with teaching us too!
For this trimester, I really want to practice more on mixing, recording, and composing. Learn different techniques to achieve sounds, improve my workflow, ask for help from lecturers and peers, and just book more studio time, as this is my last trimester ever. I feel this class will help motivate me to do more research as well as practical learning on these things. I'm seeing this trimester to be a really productive one!
